memoQ roadshow – Helsinki 30 August 2011

Maris has implemented a memoQ translation server that enhances translation and translation management, and brings added value to its partners and customers. 
 

Maris' managing director Maarit Satukangas-Pohjola participated in a memoQ roadshow at the Marski hotel in Helsinki. In her presentation she described the experiences of Maris in the implementation and use of the server system and its benefits to translators, partners and customers to an audience of colleagues and professionals involved in the translation business.

Maris Translations is now Maris Multilingual

This year marks the 10th anniversary for Maris. Even though the actual founding date is not quite at hand yet, we wish to thank all our customers and partners for enabling the thriving operation and demand that has grown year by year.

To commemorate our anniversary year, we decided to fully renew our corporate image. That also includes a little change to our name as well. From now on, we’ll use the name Maris Multilingual. Despite the change, we are still the same old Maris to our customers and partners.

The modern and slightly futuristic appearance of our new logo expresses our attitude: always up-to-date and looking ahead to the future. We believe that our customers can rest assured that the translation service they get is excellent both for its technical and linguistic quality.

Our 10th year of operation started dynamically: we introduced a new translation server that enables us to offer an entirely novel translation, language and terminology service, which can be tailored according to our customer’s needs. We have also created a disc server where both our customers and partners can keep their translation files and projects in order.

Maris 10th anniversary

Our 10th year of operation began with fireworks 31.12.2011. The company was entered in the Trade Register as Maris Translations on 31 December 2001 in Lahti, Finland.

The founders Maarit Satukangas-Pohjola and Jukka Pohjola had already then over 15 years of experience in translation and  development of technical translation solutions.

Immediately after its foundation Maris Translations Oy was accepted in a business incubator programme and it started its operation in the Lahti technology incubator, today known as the Lahti Science and Business park. That is where we began to develop our translation and language technology services, such as Lukutulkki, an online tool that helps Finnish readers understand web content written in English. Later Lukutulkki received a commendation in the national eEemeli competition for electronic learning solutions.

Many of the technical solutions that today produce added value to our customers were initiated in the technology incubator. At the beginning of its tenth year of operation Maris Translations Oy employs three people, who manage multilingual translation projects with the support of an extensive global network of expert linguists.
