Top AAA rating to Maris

Soliditet, the leading provider of business and credit information in the Nordic area, has granted Maris Multilingual an AAA rating for creditworthiness in 2012.

The triple A rating is only awarded to companies able to show financial ratios well in excess of the industry average, a positive background and payment behaviour, as well as adequate operating volume. There are seven rating classes, and only a few percents of Finnish companies achieve the highest rating.

A boost to internationalisation with the Team Finland event

Success in the global market is essential for Finland and Finnish enterprises, and promoting internationalisation is an important mutual goal.

Key players in Finland’s export promotion and internationalisation services joined forces in the Team Finland initiative to boost and support export. The objective of the project is to create a new, networked way of providing export promotion and internationalisation services to companies in a customer-oriented way.

The Team Finland kick-off event took place at Helsinki’s Finlandia Hall on 10 September. The event was opened by President of the Republic Sauli Niinistö, and speakers included high state officials and representatives of several Finnish companies.

Maarit Satukangas-Pohjola, the managing director of Maris Multilingual, a provider of international communication services, is among those who attended the event. ‘Finnish is not among the world’s major languages, so in internationalisation planning, it is crucial to pay careful attention also to multilingual communications. A professional supplier of translation and language services is an indispensable partner in internationalisation, because any human activity, from advertising to concluding contracts, is based on successful communication,’ she emphasised.
A recent survey carried out by US-based independent research firm Common Sense Advisory show that it pays to invest in multilingual communications. According to the results, more than 70% of consumers said that they would be more likely to buy a product with information in their own language, and for many the ability to obtain information in their own language was even more important than price.

An international translation industry conference will be held in Helsinki

The 7th International Conference of EUATC, the umbrella organisation for national translation company associations in European countries, will be held at the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel in Helsinki on 26-27 April 2012.

The conference focuses on 'innovation and new business models' and is targeted at entrepreneurs and other actors engaged in the translation industry, as well as all interested in the translation business, from all over the world.

Maris Multilingual's managing director, Maarit Satukangas-Pohjola, leads the local conference organisation team in Finland and also participates in the operations of the international EUATC workgroup, already for the third time. 'The idea of holding this year's conference in Helsinki came from a member of the Association of Finnish Translation Companies (SKTOL): we wanted to commemorate Helsinki's nomination as World Design Capital 2012 by hosting the conference, which is held in a different European country each year,' she says.

'I'm delighted that my home town, Lahti, is a part of the World Design Capital initiative alongside Helsinki. The image of our conference also features design from Lahti, as the conference logo was designed by Lahti-based designer Marion Robinson,' explains Satukangas-Pohjola.
